Eternal traveler

The Vanguard I was the second satellite placed into orbit by the US and the forth artificial satellite to orbit the Earth following Sputnik I & II and Explorer I. Originally used to test the capabilities of a three stage rocket system in 1958, Vanguard I was the first solar powered satellite into orbit and still orbits the Earth making it the oldest artificial object to orbit Earth to date.
